South East Asia Pacific Zone

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. Psalm 113

OAC is originally from this part of the world, having been founded in Australia. From there is first expanded to New Zealand and after that to the rest of the world. Staff from the zone have been involved in the establishment of ministries in all of our current zones, now covering the entire globe. In this part of the world there is also regular ministry in a number of South East Asian countries and across the Pacific. A branch already exists in Fiji and new openings are particularly strong in Samoa, where we are seeking to open a branch in the near future.

Pray for the establishment of the new work across the Pacific. To fulfil this objective, an overseas Ministries branch is being set up up in the zone, under the leadership of our former President, Robert Siakimotu, himself a south sea islander. Plans for this year include work towards the establishment of a branch in Samoa,  evangelism training in the Solomon Islands this June (if flights resume) and in Papua New Guinea in October and a more intensive School of Evangelism in Tonga in September.

Pray also for consolidation and continuing renewal of the work force in Australia and New Zealand. Some of our workers are around the age of retirement and we need new people. One particular concern is a very vibrant ministry to old people’s homes in Victoria, Australia, where the imminent departure of a worker will leave a big gap.

In New Zealand the leadership is just going through change. Lew Meyer, long the National Director, has recently handed over to Jeremy Dempsey, whose wife Vicki-Lee has become the National Administrator.

Pray as many plans for the immediate future are on hold, or in the air, due to Covid-19.
