New Workers

Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’ Matthew 9:38

In preparation for our International Day of Prayer, we asked around our fields for the main concerns. MORE STAFF comes up again and again. If the Lord himself told us to pray for workers, it is because He knew we would need them. Evangelism is not the first area of ministry which attracts young people contemplating the Lord’s service, but it is one of the most important. Jesus called his disciples to preach the gospel and make disciples. This is the Great Commission, which can only be fulfilled if evangelists are released into the world’s harvest fields.

Training is a major part of recruiting people into the ministry. Many nations run regular courses of varying length. From our courses we see new fields opened, volunteers recruited for local or short term missions and also long term workers called. Some training is specific for particular aspects of the ministry, such as Open air, or Schools, but our full timers are usually trained in a wide variety of methods and areas of ministry, as well as having a Bible/ Theological training.

Here are a few of the countries which have specifically asked us to pray for workers: Fiji, Australia, USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland, Russia, Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, Austria.

Requests for prayer for training have come from: New Zealand, Albania, Austria, Germany, USA, Great Britain.

Pray for many to be trained, coming on short term and local ministry, whether they be called into full time ministry or not. A large number of our prayer and financial supporters have been involved in on the street work at some stage.

But especially pray for people to be called into full time service. Give thanks for several young men who have taken up the challenge over the past year to open up new fields and local branches. Some fields are needing new workers as older ones move into ‘active retirement’. But even more urgently, currently we have boards in Russia, Mexico and Switzerland who, due to varying circumstances, have no workers at all. These countries desperately need quality leaders to take up the challenge – and the paint brush- to reopen these fields.
